Mayur developed a product family of sustainable coated artificial leather combining recycled yarns which we are knitting to make sustainable fabrics, which are then used to coat with also sustainable PVC recipes. We call our product line ESSE and with it we are able to incorporate bio based raw materials and offer different levels of bio/recycled content, depending on price/performance requirements. All materials are in approval phase with our key automotive and non-automotive customers. Results so far are very promising and show ability of 1:1 replacement of current products without having to compromise on product properties. The innovation reduces the CO2 footprint, saves water on fabric production (critical in Rajastan, India, as water is scarce) and allows the usage of waste polyester as recycled yarn (promoting circular economy).
