The Decathlon-Benvic Bed2Boot project aims to create a circular loop within Decathlon from airbeds to shoe soles. Defective or used air mattresses are collected in Decathlon stores and sorted. The non-PVC valve is removed, and the mattresses are then regenerated at Ereplast, Benvic’s PVC recycling division, to become a new raw material. In close collaboration with Decathlon’s footwear engineers, this new formulation includes a virgin, phthalate-free compound designed to meet all of Decathlon’s footwear requirements and incorporates at least 50% of the recycled mattresses. The Bed2Boot project is still under development with a target time to market in spring 2023.
