RENOLIT ALKORPLAN partnered with Balsas de Tenerife (BALTEN) to ensure irrigation for the island’s banana plantations with hydro-geomembranes in the Taco Mountain reservoir, inside the crater of a volcano. During construction they reduced CO₂ emissions by 40% by recycling the membrane scraps into new materials. The UV-resistant membrane prevents evaporation from the reservoir inside a volcanic basin with a depth of nearly 14 metres and a capacity of 11.000 litres: more than 320 Olympic-size swimming pools.
