With the CIRCULAR FLOORING project, Fraunhofer’s successfully recycled PVC flooring that includes phthalates. Using CreaSolv® tech, it’s based on the gentle and selective dissolution of a target polymer using environment- and health-friendly solvents. This replaces mechanical recycling or more advanced methods like pyrolysis which are complex and energy-intensive. It sets a new standard for PVC recycling, paving the way for commercial exploitation and establishing a more circular economy for PVC products.
