Thermofisher refines PVC/CPVC pipe formulations by developing advanced methods for analysing rheological, mechanical and thermal properties. CPVC improves pipe temperature resistance but is difficult to process due to its high viscosity and glass transition temperature. Using blends with 0–100 PHR CPVC, researchers employed torque rheometry, microextrusion capillary rheometry, and parallel plate rheometry to assess processability and performance. These methods outperform traditional ASTM D2538 analysis, offering detailed insights into blend miscibility, viscosity profiles, and gelation behaviour.
